School Renovation

Originally, Burma Relief had big plans for the New Blood School in Maesot, Thailand on Burma’s border: building a new two-story complex with computers and solar panels to provide power for all of the school’s electrical needs. But, due to a lack of funds, we were only able to finish minor renovations. The work fell short of what we had hoped to achieve for the 450 students, but it’s better – and safer – than nothing

School Renovation - Wood Pillars Reinforced

Our people did their best to reinforce the wood pillars that are propping up the school. We provided a new thatched roof to keep the rain out (it’s monsoon season), and we repaired dangerous holes in the floor to keep the kids from falling through. As you can see from the photos, we desperately need to replace the old wooden walls to protect the students from heavy rains. It will cost $1,500 to install waterproof walls that will allow the kids to learn in a safe and dry environment. We’d also like to erect a soundproof wall to separate the one-room school so that two different classes can meet simultaneously.

We have a long way to go…and anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated.
